A cooperative effort between neighbors, HoWa Farms is located north of Tampa near Land O Lakes, Florida. We have been diligently working, learning and experimenting with our pastures and herds to succeed in bringing our customers great tasting grass fed beef.
HoWa Farms practices green, eco-friendly farming techniques that minimizes our carbon foot print in the environment. All of our cattle are free-ranged on our pastures and treated humanely. We provide our product to our local economy to reduce the use of energy inputs, such as gasoline, diesel fuel, equipment and processing plant pollution normally found in main stream commercial production farms.
Our cattle are born, raised and finished on open grass pastures that we either own or lease throughout the west central Florida area. Our happy cows currently have access to about 1700 acres of Florida pastures filled with a variety of grasses to enjoy. Our grasses include Coastal Bermuda, Tifton, and Callie Bermuda with seasonal grasses, such as oats, rye, millet and sourgham mixed in. We practice a holistic approach to farm management which sustains and nourishes the environment through restoration and soil improvement techniques.
HoWa Farms raises pure bred, certified Black Angus and Brangus cows for our grass fed farm. Our cattle are bred with registered bulls that have been selected for their genetics that enhance the flavor and tenderness of the beef. Our cows receive a forage diet free of herbicides, pesticides and artificial fertilizers as they are continually rotated to fresh new pastures. Our animals are never held in confinement and are free to roam their paddocks at will. During winter months, the cows are fed healthy, high protein dry hay.
Our beef is processed locally and is dry aged for a minimum of 14-21 days. HoWa Farms grass fed beef can be purchased in quarter (split half), half or whole portions.
We have raised our own hydroponically grown vegetables for our family and friends to share. We hope to begin offering veggies and fresh herbs for sale in the future and will keep you posted. Visit our gallery to see what we're up to in the greenhouse!
