Q.
What is the difference between grass fed beef and organic beef?
This is a great question and asked often. Organic beef is not necessarily grass fed. Organic beef may be fed both organic grains and grasses and usually is fed both. Also, grass fed beef may sometimes be finished on a percentage of grain products so it is always important to ask if the beef is 100% grass fed, if that is what you are looking for. At HoWa Farms, our cows are 100% grass fed and never fed any grains or mixes.

Q.
What does grass fed beef taste like and does the taste vary from harvest to harvest?
Taste is subjective, however, most people describe the grass fed beef as a more beefy, rich flavor with a denser texture. It is more lean than corn fed beef with a more distinctive flavor. Many people tell us it tastes like the beef they used to eat at their grandparent's farm.
Flavor will vary from cow to cow and harvest to harvest. Flavor can change due to the individual cow, length of aging and time of year harvested. However, as a rule, the beef should taste fairly consistent.
